The YMCA Partner's With Youth golf tournament has been named in honor of Steve Underwood who died in December of 1999 as a result of a car wreck in May of 1996. Steve was a very important part of the history of our YMCA. He was our sixth Board President, and a key volunteer in helping our YMCA become the successful organization it is today. Steve was critically injured in an automobile accident on the Sunday prior to our First Partner's With Youth golf tournament. Since Steve was an avid golfer, a highly respected businessman, and a key YMCA volunteer, we feel privileged to name this tournament in his honor. In the first ten years, the tournament has contributed over $50,000 to our Partner's With Youth Fund.
All proceeds from this golf tournament support the YMCA Scholarship and Financial Assistance Fund, better known as the Partners With Youth Fund. Our ability and willingness to provide financial assistance is the difference between a YMCA and private fitness centers, other child care and recreation centers. By supporting our YMCA, you also support our community.
The golf tournament will be held the last Monday in the month of March. For more information, please contact Ken Bailey at 2229-243-0508.
